Diamond is JBS Couros’s best friend

Leather manufacturer JBS Couros has said work will continue at its wet blue plant in Marabá, to maintain its gold award from the Brazilian Leather Sustainability Certification organisation (CSCB) and perhaps even to build on it and achieve a diamond award in a future CSCB audit.

The Marabá plant is the first in the JBS Couros network to achieve CSCB accreditation. Across 160 audit categories, the wet blue plant achieved an average score of 97%, enough to secure gold.

There are four levels of certification that tanners can achieve, depending on how many of the criteria they fulfil. Provided they meet at least 50% of the indicators, they can earn bronze certification. Silver is for those meeting 75% and gold 90%. However, to achieve diamond certification, the score has to be 100%.
