LVMH celebrates 170th anniversary of leather luggage brand
12/08/2019
Moynat began crafting leather trunks in 1849. It was the brainchild of Pauline Moynat, who realised that new forms of transportation such as the railways, which began to arrive in Paris at the end of the 1830s, would create increased demand for luggage, including the trunks that she began to make and sell.
Ms Moynat opened her first luggage boutique and the company she founded ran a store in the Place du Théâtre Français in the French capital until 1976, when it was forced to close. In 2011, however, LVMH relaunched the brand. To celebrate the anniversary, LVMH has developed a series of new Moynat products, including the Macaron Mini Vanity, Limousine Mini Vanity, Stone Mini Vanity and the Mini Sphère Métallique.
