New Zealand leather manufacturer confirms job losses

06/08/2019
Following an announcement in July that its export deerskin leather business would cease, leather manufacturer New Zealand Light Leathers (NZLL) has confirmed that it will have to make 32 permanent positions redundant.

NZLL currently employs around 100 people at its tannery at Washdyke on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island.

The company said most of the redundancies would take effect at the start of October. It will continue to process bovine hides and some deerskins at Washdyke.
