Leather manufacturing group JBS Couros has expanded the plant it runs in Vietnam through a $5 million investment.

As part of the project, JBS Couros has now set up a finished product showroom at the site, near Ho Chi Minh City, at which it makes finished leather for the furniture industry, displaying not just the range of leather it makes there, but also pieces of finished furniture upholstered with the company’s leather.

President of JBS Couros, Guilherme Motta, said on announcing the Vietnam expansion that giving customers the opportunity to see and feel the company’s range of leather articles as part of a piece of furniture “provides a much more complete experience”.

He said the company regards the Vietnam plant as a strategic investment. Between the facility opening in 2014 and last year, output increased by more than 200% and the size of the workforce almost tripled. Current production capacity is 6 million square-feet of finished leather per month.

The company extended an invitation to furniture manufacturers in Asia to visit the new showroom and the expanded facility between June 24 and June 28.
