Leathersellers’ Company hosts industry dinner in London
The Leathersellers’ Company one of several ancient liveried companies in the City of London with a strong connection to the leather trade, hosted a dinner for representatives of today’s UK leather industry on June 6.

Guests represented leather manufacturing groups, leather, hide and skin traders, leather chemical manufacturers, finished product companies, academia and media.

James Lang, chairman of industry association Leather UK, welcomed all guests and thanked the master of the Leathersellers’ Company, Mike Bradly Russell, for hosting the event.

“The leather industry in the UK is in good shape,” Mr Lang said. “Leather UK now has 78 members, up from 29 at the start of 2018. Combined, our companies have an annual turnover of £210 million, 80% of which comes from exports. Together, we employ 18,000 people. This, combined with our high standards in animal welfare and environmental responsibility, makes the UK leather industry one of the most vibrant in the world.”
