FCA blames political conditions in France for merger withdrawal

06/06/2019
Automotive group Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has withdrawn a proposal to merge with French group Renault.

It said FCA remained convinced of the “compelling, transformational rationale” behind the proposal. But it said it had become clear that “the political conditions in France do not currently exist for such a combination to proceed successfully”.

It thanked Renault for its “constructive engagement” with all aspects of the proposal.
