Cattle slaughter up, sheep and lamb down in New Zealand

Figures from New Zealand show that cattle slaughter there increased by almost 5% in the first four months of this calendar year, with a total of almost 1.1 million.

However, over the same period, there was a decline of 6% in sheep slaughter, with a total from January-April 2019 of just under 10.5 million head. The figure for lamb was just over 9 million head, a decrease of around 2.4% compared to the same months in 2018.
