Double-digit rise in Q1 for New Zealand lamb exports

Lamb exports from New Zealand have recorded a strong start to the year. The country shipped more than 100,000 tonnes of lamb in the first quarter of 2019, an increase of 11% compared to the same quarter last year.

Half of all New Zealand sheepmeat exports now go to China.

Information source Beef+Lamb NZ has estimated that the country’s lamb slaughter for the 2018-2019 season will be 23.7 million head.
