Tuscan tanners set circular economy example
Representatives of Tuscany’s leather manufacturing cluster took part in a regional forum on the circular economy in Florence on May 2. Leather was the only industry represented.

At the event, the president of the region’s tanning industry association, Alessandro Francioni, said: “The circular economy is topic that is very much of the moment, but it’s one that our tanners have been pioneers in, thanks to our commitment to research and to responsible growth.”

Tuscany’s regional president, Enrico Rossi, responded by saying that the leather manufacturing sector in the district around Santa Croce sull’Arno deserved to be held up as “one of the best examples in Europe” of how the circular economy can work.
