31/01/2019
In the course of the year, Obuv Rossii opened 192 new stores, 144 of them directly operated by the company and 48 as part of franchise agreements. This takes the group’s total number of stores to 727, with its retail network spreading to 234 towns and cities across Russia; it opened stores in more than 80n new towns and cities in 2018.
It also runs two footwear manufacturing facilities in the region around corporate headquarters in Novosibirsk.
On presenting the results for 2018, chief executive, Anton Titov, said Obuv Rossii has observed a decline in sales in big shopping malls and, in the last month of the year alone, moved 50 of its stores from large shopping centres to “places with higher traffic and to more promising formats”. He explained that smaller, more local shopping centres and, especially in towns and smaller cities, street locations are now more popular among Russian consumers.
Mr Titov remarked that there is also a growing trend in online sales and that, because of this, Obuv Rossii also invested in improvements to its online shopping offering in 2018.
