Argentina: leathergoods and footwear SMEs are hardest hit

19/12/2018
A body that represents small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across all sectors in Argentina has released production figures for the month of November 2018.

These show the results of a monthly production survey that the organisation, Confederación Argentina de la Mediana Empresa (CAME), carries out among 300 Argentinean SMEs. CAME’s figures for November show an overall decline in production of 5.6% compared to the same month in 2017.

Alarmingly, the decline in the leathergoods and footwear sector was substantially steeper, with CAME putting the figure at 18.2% lower than in November 2017. It said leathergoods and shoe manufacturers registered a sharper fall in production than SMEs in any other sector.

In total, 25 leathergoods and footwear manufacturers took part in the CAME survey for November.
