Scottish Leather Group celebrates apprenticeship success

A young member of the team at Scottish Leather Group, Robert McLatchie, has picked up one of the prizes at the 2018 Scottish Apprenticeship Awards.

Because recruiting qualified technical people was proving difficult, Scottish Leather Group has been developing its own new generation of leather technologists. It launched a
two-year vocational education programme in 2011 and set up its own apprenticeship academy in 2012.

After completing the two-year apprenticeship in house, Robert McLatchie is now continuing his studies at the University of Strathclyde, working towards a graduate apprenticeship in engineering, design and manufacturing.
