Automotive brand Audi has begun assembly of three of its models at a production plant in the city of Relizane in Algeria. The facility was built in 2017 by local group and Audi importer SOVAC Production.

The models involved are the A3 Sportback, the A3 Sedan and the Q2. The company has said initial annual production capacity will be approximately 3,000 cars. The plant has been producing vehicles for Audi’s parent company Volkswagen since 2017.

Making the announcement, Audi’s head of planning Peter Will said: “This entry into the group’s multi-brand factory is a logical step into the Algerian growth market. By specifically training local employees, we are ensuring Audi quality and utilising synergies with the other group brands in production and logistics, laying the foundation for continued growth in North Africa.”
