Chinese investment in Tanzania leather facility

Representatives from the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) met with Chinese investors at the start of November to discuss investment in a leather manufacturing factory in the country’s Mlandizi region.

Following the meeting, John Mnali, the TIC director of investment promotion, told local media that the investors, who come from Guangzhou and Dongguan, have offered at least $100 million as initial capital.

He explained that leather processed at the facility would be used to manufacture various goods such as belts, furniture and shoes. He also said that its development would benefit local stakeholders as they would be able to sell raw material to the factory.
