Cattle slaughter driven up by drought in Australia

Australia’s Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) has said drought conditions throughout the winter there will lead to a higher cattle slaughter than expected.
In June, its prediction for Australian cattle slaughter for the year was 8.2 million head. It now believes the figure will be 2% higher at more than 8.3 million.
