Work starts on new University of Northampton leather centre
A new leather centre is under construction at the University of Northampton. It will be ready by April 2019 and will be the new home of the university’s Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT).

Commenting on the development, ICLT director, Rachel Garwood, said: “Our relocation to the university’s new Waterside Campus will be fantastic for both staff and students, providing them with cutting-edge facilities. These new facilities will enhance our teaching, training and research, all of which are crucial in supporting the global leather industry. Our reputation for being a leading global leather institute will continue to grow, which is something Northampton should be proud of.”

The new building will include a leather innovation lab (housing the ICLT tannery), testing and research labs, teaching space and rooms for commercial organisations to rent, with the tenants having access to the wider facilities.
