Volkswagen the latest to report record first-half sales

Automotive group Volkswagen delivered more than 5.5 million vehicles to its customers in the first half of 2018, an increase in volume of more than 4.1% compared to the same period of last year. 

Reacting to the results, Fred Kappler, head of group sales at Volkswagen, said: “This was the best-ever first half year in our company’s history. Group deliveries increased significantly in all core regions. Our core brands recorded strong growth in the first half year."

The number of deliveries to customers in Europe increased 6.5% year on year, with growth also recorded in the Asia-Pacific region (+8.9%) and in South America (+13.1%). Sales in the North America were flat in the first six months of 2018.
