Positive early signs as Burberry ‘transforms’ its leather offer

London-based luxury brand Burberry has reported revenues £479 million in the first quarter of its business year. This is flat with the comparable quarter a year ago.

At  the close of the quarter, 30 June 2018, Burberry had 242 retail stores around the globe, 154 concessions, 52 outlets and 46 franchise stores.

It said newly launched handbags, including a models called Belt and the D-ring bag, performed well, calling this “a positive early sign for the transformation of our leather offer”.

Chief executive, Marco Gobbetti, said the company was pleased with its progress in the three-month period. “While we know it will take time to achieve our ambitions, our progress to-date and the energy in and around the company give me confidence for the future,” he commented.
