Lanxess takes ReeL project to Frankfurt event

08/06/2018
Leather chemicals manufacturer Lanxess will present its ReeL (‘Resource-efficient production of leather chemicals’) project at the Achema process industries exhibition in Frankfurt (June 11-15).

ReeL, which focuses on making (on the tannery floor) Lanxess’s X-Biomer retanning agents using trimmings and shavings and plant-based biomass, featured in the German Innovation Awards for Climate and the Environment in February 2018. The project won in the environmentally friendly products and services category.

Lanxess developed the ReeL project in partnership with tanner Heller-Leder and Leverkusen-based research institute INVITE as partners.

At Achema, Lanxess will showcase the technology as part of a special segment called ‘Process Industry 4.0: The Age of Modular Production’. There will be a model of the ReeL equipment on show as an example of modular automation.
