Marfrig completes National Beef acquisition

Brazilian packer and (now) tanning group Marfrig has completed its acquisition of a controlling stake in US group National Beef. The deal includes National Beef’s wet blue tannery in St Joseph, Missouri, National Beef Leathers.

On June 5, regulatory authorities gave definitive approval for the deal, under which Marfrig has purchased 51% of the equity in National Beef, paying $969 million.

The team in place at National Beef Leathers will continue to run the tannery.
