TFL to talk about low-impact technologies at Freiberg
01/06/2018
TFL’s head of wet-end, Florian Döppert, will deliver the presentation and will point out how the introduction of non-toxic cationic tanning agents in the wet-end process for
chromium-free leathers can “create new options” for reducing the total amount of tanning
agents leather manufacturers need to use.
Trials have shown that leathers with better hydrothermal fastness properties and “reduced plumping” can be produced, TFL has said. At the same time, the method Florian Döppert will describe in Freiberg maintains, and can even improve, the physical properties of a hide.
Another benefit is what the company has called a significant reduction in the wastewater load at tanneries’ effluent treatment plants with a
noticeable reduction in chemical oxygen demand and total dissolved solids, and improved biodegradability.
