Louis Vuitton taps into FIFA World Cup fever
23/05/2018
This will be the third time Louis Vuitton has made the case for the World Cup trophy, following on from the 2014 edition in Brazil and the 2010 edition in South Africa. All have been made at its historic workshop in Asnières, France.
The brand has also partnered with sportswear group adidas, manufacturer of the official match ball for the World Cup, to create a limited-edition trunk containing 13 re-editions of the match balls used in each tournament since 1970. Each has been made specially by adidas, with the exception of one designed by Louis Vuitton.
A line of officially licensed bags and leathergoods (pictured), each made from Louis Vuitton’s Epi leather and featuring a special World Cup logo, is the brand’s final offering ahead of the tournament. The products feature a hexagonal design similar to that of a football and a three-stage embossing procedure to mimic the texture of the classic football.
The bags come in Louis Vuitton’s Apollo and Keepall styles, with the latter available for made-to-order personalisation in flag-inspired colours during the event, including those of countries not taking part in the World Cup.
