Growth for Marfrig

16/05/2018
Brazilian meat and wet blue producer Marfrig has announced its results for the first quarter of 2018,  showing a 24% increase in revenues and a 5% increase in adjusted earnings.

In the course of the first three months of this year, Marfrig achieved revenues of R5.1 billion and adjusted earnings of R351 million. The group attributed this growth to an increase in the volume of beef it processed during the quarter.

Across the group, Marfrig now has more than 30 beef processing plants in Brazil, Uruguay and Chile with a combined capacity of almost 5 million head of cattle per year. It runs a further 19 processing plants in the US, China, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea and Australia.

In April 2018, Marfrig acquired a controlling stake in National Beef. This took the group back into leather production because it includes control of wet blue producer National Beef Leathers, which will continue to be run by the existing management team at its tannery in St Joseph, Missouri.
