Bridge of Weir to return to classic car event
10/05/2018
As in 2017, Bridge of Weir is helping the organisers put together a feature in which senior figures from the global automotive industry will pick out the British car that’s had the greatest impact on their lives.
Participants this year will include Aston Martin chief executive, Dr. Andy Palmer, Geely’s senior vice-president for design, Peter Horbury, Jaguar Land Rover’s design studio director, Wayne Burgess, and the director of design at Rolls-Royce, Giles Taylor. All have agreed to take part in a component called ‘British Legends’, part of the wider event that will take place at Hampton Court Palace.
Bridge of Weir managing director, Karen Marshall, said on announcing the 2018 line-up that this is an especially significant year for the leather manufacturer to take part in the initiative. She explained that it’s exactly 100 years since Ford produced its first Model T car, which was clad in leather from Bridge of Weir.
“Since then we have provided leather for a number of classic cars,” Ms Marshall said, “many of which will be celebrated at this year’s Concours of Elegance. We are excited and privileged to have some of the most prolific names in the industry selecting their ‘British Legends’ for our unique feature.”
