Smit & zoon announces 10% price increases

12/04/2018
Leather chemicals manufacturer Smit & zoon has said rising raw material costs have made necessary increases in the prices of its wet-end and finishing products. Prices will go up by 10%.

It said raw materials have gone up “significantly” in the last year across its whole portfolio of products, with shortages and supply constraints in specific cases. It also pointed to “sharp increases” in labour and transportation costs, with little prospect of any short-term structural relief.

Chief executive, Hans van Haarst, said Smit & zoon’s commercial team will work with customers to put the new prices in place with immediate effect or as contracts allow.
