Trumpler said it had joined to help support its customers “by promoting a progressive and sustainable leather industry”.
Other initiatives that Trumpler has engaged with include The List, a programme run by retail group Inditex, parent company of Zara, to help finished product manufacturers choose materials, including leather, that have been made using approved chemicals. Trumpler has more than 750 products registered on The List, which takes into account aspects such as manufacturing techniques and raw materials.
The company is also active in multi-stakeholder body the Leather Working Group, forming part of the supplier sub-group, and in self-assessment tool Tannery of the Future, of which it is a sponsor.
“Trumpler celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2018 and we need to support and invest in initiatives like Leather Naturally to allow us to flourish for another 150 years,” said managing director, Hein Vugs.
