Third Designers Fair underway in Chennai
An event featuring designers from across the world is taking place in Chennai as part of the India International Leather Fair (February 1-3).

It has been organised by the Council for Leather Exports (CLE) and runs in parallel with IILF.

This year, the Designers Fair, which is marking its third edition, is welcoming around 40 designers from nine countries. As well as India, Brazil, Russia, Portugal, the US, the UK, Italy, Spain and France are represented. Around 200 Indian manufacturers and exporters are expected to attend.

The aim of the event is to offer designers the opportunity to display their products to Indian manufacturers and exporters of leather, leather products and footwear. 

The products on show at the 2018 Designers Fair include handbags, shoes, small leathergoods and luggage.

As well as the Designers Fair, CLE has also organised a new event, the Raw Materials Sourcing Meet. It took place on February 1 and saw international suppliers of raw hides and skins, wet blue, crust and leather from Bangladesh, Brazil, East Africa, Russia, Mexico, New Zealand Serbia attend one-on-one business meetings with Indian manufacturers of leather products.
