Chennai cleans up at CLE export awards

The Council for Leather Exports (CLE) handed out its annual Export Excellence Awards on January 31 ahead of the start of the India International Leather Fair (IILF).

The awards ceremony took place at the Chennai Trade Centre, also the site of the exhibition.

The three main winners all came from Chennai. First place went to the Farida Group, KH Exports India was named in second place and Tata International claimed third. 

It was a successful night for the Farida Group, which also received awards in the leather footwear and footwear components (shoe upper) categories. 

Among the other categories in the awards were leathergoods, leather garments, finished leather, fashion and sport gloves, and harness and saddlery. There were also three awards for the best female entrepreneur as well as several ‘brand creation’ awards.
