Incentives for Indian tanners to set up facilities in Uzbekistan

During a recent visit to New Delhi to hold discussions with representatives of India’s Council for Leather Exports, the chairman of Uzbekistan’s leather and footwear industry association, Sharifjon Sheraliev, said his country’s government is placing emphasis at the moment on growth in the manufacturing sector.
With regard to leather, the Council for Leather Exports quoted Mr Sheraliev as saying at the meeting that Uzbekistan will make subsidies available to tanners setting up in the Central Asian country once machinery is installed. In addition, the Uzbek government will make loans available to tanners, Mr Sheraliev is reported to have said, at rates of between 3% and 4% for seven years, plus tax breaks for five years.
