Indian government lowers sales tax on finished leather

A comprehensive review of goods and sales tax (GST) in India has delivered good news for the country’s leather industry.

Finished leather used to be among the products that commanded a 12% rate of GST. Following the review, this has now fallen to 5%.

The changes came into effect on November 15.
