Another milestone for ISA TanTec as it makes Italian leather investment
Tanning group ISA TanTec has taken a major stake in ScaBrenta, a specialist tannery based in Bassano del Grappa in the province of Vicenza in northern Italy.

ScaBrenta has been making leather since 1941 but has, more recently, gained a reputation for producing innovative finishing solutions, including topcoats, waxes and defect remedies. ISA TanTec said in a statement on November 6 that ScaBrenta’s proprietary technology and “deep knowledge of Italian leather making” will be of value to research and development efforts across the ISA TanTec group.

Crucially, it will also mean ISA TanTec will now be able to deliver leather developed in Italy to the Asian market and said this will broaden the range and quality of the products it is able to offer its customers there. This prompted chief executive, Uwe Hutzler, to say: “We are convinced that the investment into ScaBrenta is another milestone in continuing to develop ISA TanTec into a global player in the tanning industry, now also covering Italy, the hub of fashion and leather-making.”

The structure of the deal is that shareholders have sold a majority stake in ScaBrenta to ISA TanTec, while the leadership team at ScaBrenta, Angelo and Filippo Gerolimetto, have, for their part, invested in ISA TanTec.
