American actor and fashion designer John Malkovich presided over this year’s Première Vision Awards, the winners of which were announced during the show this week (September 19 to 21).

Each year, the event singles out the most inventive products from weavers and tanners exhibiting at the Première Vision Fabrics and Première Vision Leather shows.

Spanish rabbit skin specialist Aqpel received the top award, the PV Leather Grand Jury Prize, for “the most exceptional, symbolic and pertinent leather of the season”.

Reindeer leather tannery AHLSKOG from France walked away with the PV Leather Handle Prize, for “the leather combining the most amazing tactile and behavioural qualities”.

Spain’s FC Creacio i Innovacio was awarded the PV Leather Imagination Prize “for the most daring and original leather in terms of decoration, technique, finishing, innovation or technology”, while exotics specialist Nova Kaeru from Brazil took the PV Leather Fashion Smart Creation Prize for “the most creative responsible fabric and leather”.

The tanneries joined five textile companies that were handed trophies by John Malkovich at a ceremony in Paris.
