The founder of packer and tanning group JBS, José Batista Sobrinho (whose initials gave the company its name), has taken up the role of company president once again.

José Batista Sobrinho is the father of former chief executive Wesley Batista and former JBS president Joesley Batista, both of whom have been detained by police. Mr Batista was named as the new president after a board meeting on Saturday, September 16.

As one of his first actions, he appointed Gilberto Tomazoni to the newly created position of global chief operating officer.
