Solar energy plant for Pakistan shoe manufacturer

One of largest shoe manufacturers in Pakistan, Service Industries Limited (SIL), has announced that it will meet its energy requirements in future using solar power. It has installed a 1000 kW solar energy system at its plant near Lahore and has said the new project will provide considerable savings in energy costs, and an expected reduction of more than 500 tonnes in the annual carbon emissions.

SIL chief executive, Omar Saeed, said on unveiling the new solar energy system: “We hope that this initiative creates awareness about environment protection among entrepreneurs, to bring about a change in the mindset of export industries in Pakistan.”
