An official export promotions body in Turkey has urged leather garment manufacturers in the country to keep quality standards high to meet the requirements of overseas buyers.

In a wide-ranging market research exercise, the Turkish Exporters’ Council (TEC) said garments made from nappa and double-face had achieved a satisfaction rating of 70% among buyers from more than 2,500 companies in 26 different countries.

TEC president, Mehmet Buyuk, said his organisation wants manufacturers from all export categories to reach a rating of 90% in the coming years.

The exercise covered textiles, carpets, chemicals, machinery and agricultural products as well as leather garments and other finished leathergoods. Over the piece, product satisfaction rates were 65%.
