Smit & zoon opens leather application laboratory in Brazil
Leather chemicals manufacturer Smit & zoon has officially opened a new leather application laboratory in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil. It said on making the announcement that this expansion will support the company’s growth strategy in the Brazilian market.

“The opening of our Novo Hamburgo lab shows our long-term commitment to the Brazilian leather industry,” said chief executive, Hans van Haarst. “This lab will bring our products and knowledge closer to the Brazilian market, allowing us to react rapidly to the needs of local customers.”

Commenting on the development, Michael Breitsamer, Smit & zoon’s sales manager for the South American market, said: “We have a strong technical team in Brazil. With the opening of our new lab they will be able to serve Brazilian tanneries even better and faster with their application trials. With the opening of this lab our technicians now have a dedicated facility in which they can develop special application recipes for the optimised use of our products on Brazilian raw material.”
