The already announced retirement of PrimeAsia’s senior vice-president, Art Anker, has prompted a warm tribute from the leather manufacturing group’s chief executive, Jon Clark.

Art Anker will gradually relinquish his duties over the course of the next year with Ian Scher moving from Australia to coroporate headquarters in New Hampshire to replace him.

Commenting after the announcement, Jon Clark said that when Art Anker goes, the leather industry will “say goodbye to an icon”, someone who has “shaped our industry” after half a century working in it.

“I have had the honour and privilege of working with Art for the past 22 years,” Mr Clark said, “and over this time he has exemplified the values of friendship, credibility, humility, integrity and passion. Art is a friend of so many inside this industry and outside; I am extremely proud to call him my friend. There will be more written in the months to come as we celebrate the career of one of the great individuals in this business.”

He ended by wishing Mr Anker and his family a happy future.
