Financial and political scandals enveloping its parent group have not prevented the world’s largest producer of leather, JBS Couros, from taking part in the High Point Showtime Market furniture exhibition in North Carolina (June 4-7).

At the June edition of the event, JBS launched its first new collection of leather specifically for furniture manufacturers, with its tanneries in Vietnam and Italy, as well as Brazil and other parts of South America, sharing responsibility for putting the range together.  They have used raw materials from Brazil, Uruguay, the US and Europe.

Called ‘Authentic - Deep Into Nature’, the collection takes its inspiration from the four elements (water, air, fire and earth) and employs lighter finishes, the company has said, that give the leather “a greater level of sophistication”.

“The furniture industry is a major leather consumer and is constantly evolving,” JBS Couros commercial manager, Max Lapegna, said at the start of the exhibition. “We believe in the essence of leather and wanted to bring leather’s unique, natural and atemporal style to consumers in the world’s biggest markets on a sustainable basis, delivering leather from certified sources while also adding value to our customers’ products.”
