Tanning clusters in Turkey to add rendering plants

05/06/2017
Three tanning clusters in Turkey have agreed to take new joint steps to improve their management of solid waste.

Clusters at Corlu-Tekirdag, Menemen-Izmir, and Tuzla-Istanbul have agreed to set up new common rendering facilities that will take trimmings, splits, lime fleshings and other solid waste and process them to extract protein for foodstuffs and fat for fuel.

Their aim is to have a rendering plant in operation at each of the three clusters with a capacity to process 300 tonnes of solid waste each within three years.
