Well loved industry figure dies
A well known and well loved figure in the UK leather industry, Amanda Michel, has lost a brave battle against cancer. After fighting the illness for several years, she died on March 29.

After years at the BLC Leather Technology Centre, Amanda Michel left in 2005 to set up specialist training consultancy Leather Wise, running it at first with close friend Dr Christine Powley-Williams and then, after her colleague’s departure for SATRA in 2009, on her own.

She was also an important contributor to the teaching programme at the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies at the University of Northampton and, with her husband, Ian, to leather sourcing operation and consultancy Amandian.
