Former SLTC president dies

The UK Leather Federation has announced the death of Dr Ken Alexander, a former president of the Society of Leather Technologists and Chemists in his home country. Dr Alexander also held the position of chief executive of the British Leather Confederation (BLC) between 1992 and his retirement in 2006.

He received his PhD in biochemistry from Southampton University after specialising in cholesterol biosynthesis. He then worked in medical research and academia in the UK, the US and Australia.

He spoke at many industry events and is well remembered for his organisation of the IULTCS Congress in London in 1997.
