Stahl makes flame-retardant products acquisition
21/11/2016
Stahl said on announcing the acquisition that the Eagle Performance Products business will add technology and product diversification to its existing product portfolio of process chemicals for leather. Eagle’s flame-retardant products are water-based and will open up “endless opportunities”, Stahl said. For example, it believes the addition of flame-retardant products will help it explore new market segments, including hotels and cinemas.
“We have been cooperating closely with Eagle Performance Products for many years,” said Stahl chief executive, Huub van Beijeren, on announcing the deal. “We have decided the time was right to combine our forces. The acquisition of Eagle Performance Products enables us to respond even better to our clients’ needs.”
Established in 1974, Eagle has always focused on the North American market, where all its facilities are located, and only randomly ventured into other markets. Chief executive, John Friddle, said of the deal with Stahl: “Today marks the beginning of a new era for Eagle Performance Products. Stahl offers us the opportunity to grow beyond North America.”
Mr Friddle will work as business manager of the new division, rebranded as Eagle Flame Retardants of Stahl. John Friddle began working with Eagle’s founder, Bill Shaw, in 1995 and acquired a majority stake in the business at the start of 2014.
