Canadian beef products from animals 30 months and older, as well as ground meat and some speciality meats will now be permitted to enter Mexico.
Lawrence MacAuley, Canadian minister of agriculture and agri-food, recently concluded a visit to Mexico, where we met his counterpart, José Calzado. The ministers discussed ways to increase the competitiveness of their agricultural sectors.
Mr MacAulay described Mexico’s decision to open its market to Canadian beef as “an important milestone” in the relationship between the countries.
“This expanded access, based on sound scientific principles, will create new opportunities to export even more high-quality Canadian beef to Mexico while putting more money in the pockets of farmers and help grow the middle class," he added.
