Senior figure in UK leather dies

Gwen Stapleton, a well known figure in the UK leather sector, has died at the age of 94.

She was an important figure at industry body the British Leather Federation, retiring from there in 1982 after 29 years’ service. At the time of her retirement, she was the organisation’s deputy director.

She also served as secretary of the UK National Association of Glove Manufacturers and of charity organisation the Leather and Hide Traders’ Benevolent Institution. Her connections to the industry remained strong after retirement.
