The Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) is expecting to collect an estimated 7.3 million hides and skins worth almost $60 million during the Eid al-Adha festival period, when many families buy and slaughter an animal.

PTA officials have told local media that tanners can acquire 30% of a whole year’s raw material in the course of the festival’s four days.

They said they were expecting 2.5 million cattle hides, four million goat skins, 800,000 sheep skins and 30,000 camel hides to come onto the market over the four-day period.
