Drop in EU exports of raw hides and skins

The value of agri-food exports from the EU increased 2.1% for the 12-month period from July 2015 to June 2016, according to the latest monthly report from the EU Commission. The total value for the period was €129 billion.

Sales for the year improved to the US (+ €2.2 billion), China (+ €1,8 billion) and Saudi Arabia (+ €0.6 billion).

By sector, there were considerable increases in the exports of pigmeat (€986 million higher than the previous 12-month period) and live animals (€502 million higher).

There was a notable decrease, however, in the value of the exports of raw hides and skins compared to 2012-15, with the total value dropping €1.1 billion.
