Warning from Ferragamo chief on slow growth
The CEO of luxury brand Salvatore Ferragamo has warned that the luxury goods sector will have to focus on managing risks as lower growth continues to affect the industry. Michele Norsa, who is leaving the Italian company before the end of 2016, made the comments to fashion website Business of Fashion, when he also outlined Ferragamo’s strategy for dealing with the problem.

"Growth will not be as strong as in past years, when the Chinese economy and new markets have been opportunities for the industry," Mr Norsa said.

He said that Ferragamo, where he has been in charge since 2006, will focus on boosting profits rather than pushing sales as it will be hard to predict “given the growth of volumes”.

The company posted a 5% rise in profit for the first quarter of 2016 but revenue decreased 2% to €321 million ($362 million).
