Hermès chief executive, Guillaume de Seynes, has been elected as the new chairman of the Comité Colbert, the body that represents the French luxury industry. He takes over the role from Michel Bernardaud (chief executive of his family’s Limoges porcelain brand), and will hold it for the next four years.

Mr de Seynes represents the sixth generation of his family to run Hermès, which was one of the 15 founding members of the Comité Colbert in 1954. It now represents 81 luxury houses and 14 cultural institutions.

At the time of the announcement, Guillaume de Seynes said: “Honoured by the trust of 81 French luxury houses, I will make every effort to encourage passion for design and artisan skills. They are the cement that binds the Comité Colbert, a truly unique collective together.”
