PTA demands duty free imports of raw material

19/05/2016
Tanners in Pakistan have responded to dwindling export figures by asking the government to waive the 3% customs duties on imports of raw hides and skins that are in place at the moment.

This request is one of a  list of demands the Pakistan Tanners’ Association (PTA) has submitted for inclusion in budgets for the new financial year, which begins in July.

Other suggestions on the PTA list include a request for lower taxes for tanners and for duty-free import of tanning machinery.
