Swedish-Bangladeshi partnership launches ambitious new leathergoods brand

Chairman Anders Sandlund and managing director Imrul Ahmed Tulin have said they plan to gain recognition for running “the world’s most environmentally friendly leather and leathergoods production chain” within three years.
The connection between their families dates back to the 1970s when Mr Sandlund’s parents did some voluntary work in Bangladesh and formed a firm friendship with Mr Tulin’s parents, Atiq and Dolly Hossain.
Their claims for Sandlund-Hossain centre on the idea that the brand will run its own cattle farm, tannery, finished product manufacturing facility and biogas plant in the rural setting of Bagatipara Upazilla in western Bangladesh. They aim to create 1,000 new jobs for local people there.
